Tom's Huntington, NY 3-16-07
Last nite in Huntington, NY... A superb show isolated from the horrific ice storm outside, a good crowd enjoyed a great DTB show! Many were first timers - but there was a special treat (although ALL DTB shows are a special treat) In my 2 or 3 years of following the band's music, I always wanted to - but not until last night herd "Faith to Believe" performed live. It closed the first set and was excellent! Tara said that he hadn't done it in 2 years and couldn't remember the lyrics, lol. And so she enlisted an audience member to hold the lyrics in front of her as she sang. I found the song to be cathartic and mesmerizing at the same time. It was simply another great DTB experience replete with extended jams reminiscent of what the Grateful Dead used to do... and the places they brought us collectively.
The Huntington, NY venue was a fixed seating arena lending few opportunities for the freestyle dance expressions that we DTB fans relish... Nonetheless, we made do quite well with the limited level floor space at our disposal. At one point, Jeb invited the audience to join the band onstage - but, alas, the management of the venue dispatched the "enforcers" to ensure that no such activity occurred. Ah well, a great time was had by all anyways! Tom
